Bitless Inc Annual Online Show T&C's

1st May - 30th June 2014 

 

The Bitless Inc Annual Online Show is open to any bitless equestrian around the world.  The Show includes photo and video classes.

SHOW TERMS & CONDITIONS:

  • The show runs from 1st May 2014 - 30th June 2014.  No entries will be accepted after this time.
  • Classes will be judged by professionals in the equestrian industry. Judges will be announced prior to the close of competition.
  • Winners will be announced by the 30th of July, 2014, by email, on this page and on the Bitless Inc Facebook Page.
  • Ribbons to 4th place will be awarded in each class.  Participation ribbons will be awarded to all competitors.
  • Ribbons will be posted following the results announcement.

  • Bitless Inc Members may enter each class once for free, additional entries in the same class are AU$2.00 each. 
  • Non members of Bitless Inc, including international participants, can enter for AU$5.00 in any class, excluding Novelty Classes. 
  • Entry fees must be paid (via PayPal) before photos and videos will be entered into the competition.
  • The same photo may be used for different classes.
  • Photos may NOT be photoshopped or altered in any way, except for cropping (Class 40. Photography Award excluded).

  • Bitless Inc Members are insured while participating in filming and photographing for this online show.  Guest Memberships are not available for this event.
  • NO BITS ON HORSES PERMITTED.
  • Whips and spurs are permitted only IF normally acceptable in the class being entered.  If in doubt, don't use them.
  • Horses may be shod, barefoot or wearing boots. 
  • ALL RIDERS & DRIVERS MUST BE WEARING A HELMET (Classes 7 & 8 excluded). 
  • All handlers, riders and drivers must be wearing boots.  Photos of unsafe attire, in the judge's opinion, will not be accepted.
  • Bitless Inc Constitution, Code of Conduct, and General Safety Guidelines must be followed at all times during this competition.
  • The term "Equine" refers to horses, ponies, donkeys, mules etc.
  • The term "Ridden" describes any mounted equine: saddles and pads are optional, horses may be in bitless bridles, halters, or bridle-less.
  • The term "Driven" is an equine harnessed to a vehicle with a driver in the seat.  Driven equines must have reins along with a halter or bitless bridle. 
  • The term "In Hand" describes an equine lead by a handler on foot, while wearing a halter/headcollar and leadrope.
  • The term "Liberty" describes a horse with no physical connection to the handler - no ropes, halters, sticks or whips are permitted.

  • Bitless Inc reserves the right to split or combine classes as required.
  • Bitless Inc reserves the right to move an entry into a more suitable class, if required. 
  • Bitless Inc Members may collect High Point Award points for this event.
  • Photos of distressed looking animals, excessive force or other abuse, in the judges opinion, will not be accepted.
  • The Judge's decision is final, no correspondance will be entered into.
  • The Bitless inc organising committee reserves the right to make changes or alterations to the rules at any time.  Competitors will be notified of any changes as they occur.
  • Competitor names will be listed (first initial, surname, and horse's name) only after judging is complete. 
  • Photos may be emailed or posted.  Videos must be uploaded to YouTube.  Full instructions on how to submit photos and videos will be emailed, or posted, upon receiving your application (below) - please phone the secretary if you cannot receive emails.  Your competitor number must be included with all submissions.

PROGRAM:

Showing Ring (Photos):

Photos may be taken especially for this competition, or be a suitable photo you already have.
The rider, driver or handler must be fully visible in the photo.
You must own the photo, or have permission from the photographer to use the photo for this show.
All horses and humans to be in Show apparel (neat casual to formal attire is acceptable) and presented for a Show.
All riders and drivers must be wearing a helmet (excluding classes 7 & 8).
Equines may entered into each Showing Class once only.

Horses must be presented in motion (any pace), except for Classes 7 & 8 where the equine may be standing still.
Class 6: Other animals includes any prey animal other than equines, such as goats, cows, llamas, camels etc.
Classes 7 & 8:  The photo entered must be taken at an actual Competition or Show that you have entered.
The judges will assess each entry based on presentation and the partnership, and place the entries accordingly.

    Sporting Ring (Photos):

    All classes may be entered Ridden, Driven, In Hand or At Liberty
    Photos may be taken especially for this competition, or be a suitable photo you already have.
    The rider, driver or handler must be fully visible in the photo.
    You must own the photo or have permission from the photographer to use the photo for this show.
    All horses and humans to be presented in attire appropriate for the class being entered, but not necessarily formal show attire.
    All Riders and Drivers must be wearing a helmet.
    Horses must be presented in motion (any pace), and shown actively participating in an activity relevant to the class description.
    The judges will assess each entry based on presentation, accuracy of the activity demonstrated, and the partnership, and place the entries accordingly.

    Sporting Champion & Reserve

    Video Ring:

    All video entries, excluding Class 32, must be filmed especially for this competition by downloading the course/s below.
    The rider, driver or handler must be fully visible in the video.
    All horses and humans to be presented in attire appropriate for the class being entered, but not necessarily formal show attire.
    All Riders and Drivers must be wearing a helmet.
    Prey animals, other than equines, may enter any of these classes.
    Build courses to the best of your ability, pay attention to any specific measurements mentioned, incorrect courses will lose points.
    Please use a tripod, or have something to lean against to steady the camera.  Shakey camera work makes judges seasick!
    The judges will score as described on the course sheets, the competitor with the most points/least penalties will win the class. In the event of a draw, the judge will reassess the tied entries.

    Novelty classes are open to Bitless Inc Members only.
    The (human) competitor does not need to be in the photo.
    The judges will assess each entry based on aesthetic or amusement value, and place the entries accordingly.

HOW TO ENTER:

Send an email to onlineshow@bitlessinc.org.au (or call the Secretary on 0402 074 447) with your full name, Bitless Inc Membership Number (if applicable) and postal address (to recieve your ribbons).  Juniors need to include date of birth to be eligible for the Best Junior Award.  You will then recieve your competitor number, entry forms and full instructions on how to send in your photos and videos.  Once registered, you may send in entries as often as you like until the show closes on 30th June 2014. 

Bitless Inc Members may enter each Class once for free, additional entries in a class you have already entered into are AU$2.00 each.  Non members of Bitless Inc can enter for AU$5.00 per class, excluding Novelty Classes.  Non members, and Members with more than one entry in the same class, will be sent a Paypal invoice for their entries (you do not need to have a PayPal account yourself).  Invoices must be paid before entries will be added in to the competition.

As the competitor, you must be the person featured in the photos or videos as the rider, driver, or handler.  Each competitor (person), must have their own competitor number.
Children in Class 5 (Leading Rein) do not need their own competitor number, as long as the person leading the equine is the register competitor.
Novelty Classes do not need to show the competitor (person) in the photo, but the photo must belong to you, or be taken of you or your horse.
Class 28 (pairs agility) has two competitors, and both participants need to be registered as a competitor. The class is entered jointly, and only one fee (if applicable) applies to this class.

If the horse featurd in your photos is not owned by you, please obtain permission of the owner to use the photos in this Show, prior to submitting the photos.
If the photos belong to a professional photographer, you are responsible to obtain permission for their use in this online show, prior to entering them.  Please supply the photographer's name for photo credits.

Photos may be emailed, or posted in (please include a stamped, self addressed envelope for the return of any posted photos). 
Emailed photos should be between 250kb and 1mb, in a .jpeg format.  Videos need to be uploaded to YouTube and a link provided to the secretary.  Photos and videos will be published on this website.
